Von Brauchitsch led a sweep
for the all-conquering Mercedes, beating greats Rudolf Carraciola

the pole but finished third to Moss and Von Trips. Hill won
the World Grand Prix Drivers Championship in 1961.

Signed Mercedes team photograph
of driver Karl Kling. Kling started as a reception clerk in
the Daimler Public Relations Department. As a privateer, he
competed in a Mercedes production car in rallies prior to
World War II. In the early 50s he was invited to join the
Mercedes Grand Prix and sports car teams.
He was second to Fangio in the 1954 French Grand Prix and
he won the 1952 Carrera Panamericana (Mexican Road Race) in
a 300SL. He became Mercedes competition manager in the early
1960s.

the famous motorsport photographer, Jesse Alexander, of the
Porsche Formula II single-seater in the pits at the Nurburgring.
This marked the beginning of Porsche's involvement in Formula
racing.
This photograph is from a limited
edition portfolio of eight images produced by Alexander in
1986 and appears in a number of publications including Motor
Racing Photographs (plate 29) by Alexander.

MERCEDES-PORSCHE TEAM DRIVER
SIGNED PHOTOGRAPH
Signed photograph of Mercedes
and Porsche driver Hans Hermann. A baker by trade, Hermann
was asked to join the Mercedes Grand Prix team in the mid-50s.
He started 18 Grand Prix but it was in sports cars that he
had his greatest success, winning the 1960 Sebring 12-Hour
and the Targa Florio, the 1968 Daytona 24-Hour and the 1970
Lemans races. He also drove other marques including Cooper,
Maserati, BRM, and Abarth. He retired to a car parts business.

Phil Hill, victorious at the
1960 Italian Grand Prix, became the first American since Jimmy
Murphy in 1921 to win a European Grand Prix. It was the last
victory for a front-engined car.
Photograph is by the famed
motorsport photographer Jesse Alexander and is signed by him.
This photograph appears in the book Driven - Racing Photography
of Jesse Alexander 1954-1962, plate 89, and is part of

from Grand Prix driver, Innes Ireland to someone requesting
an autograph. Ireland writes of his plans for the upcoming
season and that he is to drive a Ferrari the next week in
the Monza 1000km race. Ireland won the first U.S. Grand Prix
at Watkins Glen in a Lotus and was then fired by Colin Chapman!

before this event, at the British Grand Prix, Vanwall scored
the first British car win in several decades. At this event,
Stirling Moss again won in his Vanwall over Fangio's Maserati.
The Moss car is #26 in the photograph.

1957 Vanwall Grand Prix car by the noted photographer Edward
Eves - and signed by him. The Vanwall was the product of the
determination of Tony Vandervell to produce a British Grand
Prix contender. On July 20, 1957, Stirling Moss and Tony Brooks
shared the driving of their British Racing Green Vanwall to
win the British Grand Prix - the first all-British victory
in their own Grand Prix. This began an era of British domination
in Grand Prix racing.

Mercedes success poster, designed
by Hans Liska, celebrating their victory in the 1954 French
Grand Prix in which Juan Manuel Fangio was the winner and
Karl Kling was second.
The poster is signed by Stirling
Moss, who was Fangio's teammate, Jose Froilan Gonzalez, who
was a great friend to Fangio as well as a competitor and by
Fangio himself. Liska produced a number of posters for Mercedes.

of the great Jim Clark at the 1960 Belgian Grand Prix. Alexander
stated that Clark had just learned of the death of two drivers
including his teammate Alan Stacey, in the race.
